Memo <br />To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />From: Susie Morris, AICP, CZO, Planning and Zoning Manager <br />CC: File <br />Date: 9/16/2016 <br />Re: Proposed Text Amendment to Zoning Ordinance (TEXT2016- 00001) <br />• Attached you will find a draft of the North Carolina Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance with <br />applicable Cabarrus County information incorporated. <br />• This document has been reviewed by the NC Department of Public Safety, Division of <br />Emergency Management, Risk Management Section and was approved to move forward on <br />5/4/2016. <br />• Staff is proposing that this language be removed from the County Code of Ordinances and <br />moved to the Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance so that development standards are located <br />in one place for citizens and developers seeking development information. <br />• Additions and corrections are in red text. <br />• The proposed changes were also reviewed by the County Attorney and the Text Amendment <br />Committee. <br />• The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously on June 14, 2016, to forward the <br />proposed amendments to the Board of Commissioners for final consideration. <br />• The Board of Commissioners will need to hold a public hearing on the proposed change to <br />move the Flood Ordinance from the County Code of Ordinances to the Cabarrus County <br />Zoning Ordinance and to adopt the Model Ordinance Language as approved by the NC <br />Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management, Risk Management Section <br />as Chapter 16. <br />Attachment number 1 \n <br />G -4 Page 197 <br />
