CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />1� <br />p TBcA�a 11i JANUARY 22 20 <br />��fiiffJfl /�� <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Appointments to Boards and Committees <br />SUBJECT: <br />Appointments and Removals - Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory <br />Council <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />At the December 17, 2012 Department of Aging Advisory Board meeting, <br />new bylaws were adopted. In the bylaws, the Board changed the name to <br />the Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council. At that meeting, <br />the Council voted unanimously to reappoint Tom Kurzel and Ella Walters <br />to three -year terms ending December 31, 2015. <br />The terms of appointment for Frank Whitley, Robin Swaringen, Jr. and <br />Theodore Drain ended December 31, 2012. Also, Geraldine Foster has <br />resigned from her position on the Council. It is requested to remove their <br />names from the roster. <br />According to the Bylaws, Article V., Section 1, the Advisory Council shall <br />consist of eleven (11) members appointed by the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners plus the following ex- officio members: the President of <br />the Cabarrus County Council on Aging; the Cabarrus delegate to the <br />North Carolina Senior Tar Heel Legislature; one member of the Cabarrus <br />County delegation to the Area Agency on Aging, Region F Advisory <br />Council, appointed by the chairperson; and one member of the Active <br />Living and Parks Commission. <br />Theodore Drain is the Cabarrus delegate to the North Carolina Senior Tar <br />Heel Legislature and will fill that position on the Council. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />H -3 Page 244 <br />
