SITE OPPORTUNITIES AND CONSTRAINTS <br />K Dickson was pleased to have had the opportunity to present our proposed improvements for <br />WCabarrus County's new 190 acre park located off Wallace Road. WK Dickson recently completed <br />several similar park projects with trails, water activities and passive recreation activities that were developed <br />with public involvement and steering committee participation. All parks and projects are different, but we <br />brought to the table our past experiences in project development and applied them to this project in every <br />phase. The master planning process is detailed task by task in the following pages. <br />PHASE I -RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS <br />Task 1 - In-House Kick-off Meeting <br />The Design Team conducted an in-house Project Kick-off Meeting after receiving notice to proceed on the <br />project. At this meeting, the following items were discussed: <br />- Circulation, site access, traffic and roads <br />- Hydrology including surface water and runoff, erosion potential, and the property's location in the <br />watershed <br />- Wetlands and water bodies, both existing and potential <br />- Topography and slopes <br />- Irrigation water sources <br />- Existing soils and vegetation <br />- Existing utilities and plans for future utilities <br />r Existing buildings and materials <br />- Climate and growing conditions <br />- Views <br />- Existing site features to protect and remain <br />- Potential stakeholders/partners <br />- Steering Committee role <br />- Project roles and responsibilities <br />- Lines of communication and reporting <br />- Review and exchange of information <br />- Establish limits and scope of Southeast Cabarrus Park <br />- Schedule critical tasks and dates <br />- Special considerations and design criteria <br />- Collect data from County offices <br />- Program development of recreational elements <br />13~ ~DIICI<SON <br />community iMraslruGUre consuttonls <br />G-1 Page 224 <br />
