CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 20, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Appointments to Boards and Committees <br />SUBJECT: <br />Appointments -Watershed Improvement Commission <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Watershed Improvement Commission (WIC), a three member board, <br />has had a vacant position for nearly a year. During this time, only one <br />application from Armistead Eugene Divine was received despite <br />numerous outreach efforts. Mr. Divine currently serves on the Cabarrus <br />Planning & Zoning Commission as an alternate with a term that expires 8- <br />31-11. To appoint Mr. Divine to the WIC will require an exception to the <br />Appointment Policy to address the "service on multiple boards" provision. <br />As indicated in the accompanying documentation, the WIC fully <br />recommends the appointment of Mr. Divine and the Chair of the Cabarrus <br />Planning & Zoning Commission has been asked to weigh-in on the <br />matter.
