Watts/Senior Planner <br />Subject: Reservation of Capacity and Capacity Schedule for Alexander Estates <br />Date: 5/19/2009 <br />The Huntley Group, LLC., (10931 Williams Road, Charlotte, NC 2822' is requesting a reservation <br />of capacity for the Alexander Estates residential subdivision project, which consists of 19 single <br />family units on +/- 54.35 acres located north of the intersection of Lower Rocky River Road and <br />Morrison Road in unincorporated Cabarrus County. <br />School Capacity Review <br />The Alexander Estates residential subdivision project is expected to produce approximately 6 <br />elementary students, 3 middle school students and 2 high schools students for a total of 11 students. <br />The schools impacted by the project are Bethel Elementary School, C.C. Griffin Middle School and <br />Hickory Ridge High School. <br />The county's capital improvements plan (CIP) includes the following proposed improvements that <br />would create additional capacity for the schools impacted by the project: <br />Number of Additional Seats listed in CIP <br />Year School 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 <br />Elementary Bethel 195 200 <br />Middle C.C. Griffin 900 <br />High Hickory Ridge 350 <br />Seat Distribution Summary - (Based on July 2008 Capital Improvements Plan) <br />Elementary -Anew elementary school is scheduled for 2009 on Miami Church Road to replace the <br />existing A.T. Allen Elementary School. When this new school opens, 95 students will be transferred <br />from Bethel Elementary School to the new elementary school due to redistricting. Also, a new <br />elementary school is scheduled for 2009 adjacent to C.C. Griffin Middle School. When this new <br />school opens, 100 students will be transferred from Bethel Elementary School to the new elementary <br />school due to redistricting. Another new elementary school is scheduled for 2013 south of <br />Harrisburg. When this new school opens, 200 students will be transferred from Bethel Elementary <br />School to the new elementary school due to redistricting. <br />Middle -Anew middle school is scheduled for 2009 adjacent to Hickory Ridge High School. When <br />this new middle school opens, 900 students will be transferred from C.C. Griffin Middle School to <br />the new middle school due to redistricting. <br />High Anew high school is scheduled for 2013 in the west/central area.
