CABARRUS-ROWAN MPO MEMORANDUM <br />TO: CABARRUS-ROWAN MPO MEMBERS <br />FROM: KENNETH LEATHERS, TAC CHAIR <br />SUBJECT: RESOLUTION REQUESTING TIGER DISCRETIONARY GRANT FUNDING FOR <br />REPLACEMENT OF THE YADKIN RIVER BRIDGE <br />DATE: MAY 29, 2009 <br />The Cabarrus-Rowan Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) endorsed the concept <br />of discretionary grant funding for replacement of the Yadkin River Bridge at their March <br />25, 2009 meeting. Following this meeting, a letter was received from NCDOT Secretary <br />Eugene Conti regarding North Carolina's intention to pursue a statewide application to <br />the US DOT for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) <br />discretionary grant funding for replacement of the Yadkin River Bridge. In response, the <br />Cabarrus-Rowan TAC is asking each jurisdiction in the Cabarrus-Rowan MPO to <br />consider the attached resolution in support of this application for these funds as we <br />would like to transmit a package of local resolutions to the US DOT Secretary and US <br />Congressional Delegation. If your jurisdiction has already passed a similar resolution, <br />please forward it to our office for inclusion in this package.
