<br />Ordinance No, 2005-20 <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />VOLUNTARY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT ORDINANCE <br /> <br />ARTICLE I <br />TITLE <br /> <br />An ordinance of the Board of County Conunissioners of CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, <br />entitled, "VOLUNTARY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT ORDINANCE" and "THE ENHANCED <br />VOLUNTARY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT ORDINANCE." <br /> <br />ARTICLE n <br />AUTHORITY. <br /> <br />The articles and sections of this ordinance are adopted pursuant to authority conferred by the N,C,G,S. Sections <br />106-735 through 106-744 and Chapter 153A. In conjunction with Ratified House Bill 607, <br /> <br />ARTICLE ill <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />The pW'pose of this ordinance is to promote agricultural values and the general welfare of the county and more <br />specifically, increase identity and pride in the agricultural community and its way of life; encourage the <br />economic and [mancial health of agriculture; and increase protection from non-farm development and other <br />negative impacts on properly managed farms, <br /> <br />The Enhanced Vohmtary Asrricultural District Ordinance creates a district that will provide srreater benefits to <br />farmers than the current urosrram, Participating farms will be allowed to receive up to 25% of their grOSS sales <br />. from certain types of non-farm products and still qualify for agricultural zoning exemptions and be eligible for a <br />higher percentage of cost-share urogram funding and have uriority for other state grant programs. <br /> <br />ARTICLE IV <br />DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The following are defined for purposes of this ordinance: <br /> <br />Advisory Board: Cabanus County Agricultural Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Chairperson: <br /> <br />Chairperson of the Cabarrus County Agricultural Advisory Board. <br /> <br />District: <br /> <br />Voluntary Agricultural District as established by this ordinance. <br /> <br />Board of <br />Commissioners: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br />ARTICLE V <br />AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />A.
