April 3,1995 <br /> <br />Presentation Relative ~o =he Community Service Bleak Grant Pro.ram - He. Carolyn <br />CarD~nter. Cha~r~ers0n..Homeless Task Force. <br /> <br /> He. Carolyn Carpenter, Chairperson of =he Homeless Task Force, reported <br />=ha= $80,278.00 in Community Service Block Oran= funds for Cabarrus County have <br />been included in =he annual appropriation to the Salisbury-Rowan Community <br />Service Council, Inc. (SRCSC). Plans are for =he SRCSC =o use =his fundin& =o <br />hire a oaeeworker =o work with =he homeless and/or low income residence of <br />Cabarrus County in addressing such issues as employment, housing, and self- <br />sufficiency. Three Cabarrus County residents will be added to =he current SRCSC, <br />Inc. Board of Directors. Ms. Carpenter advise~ =ha= Chess members would include <br />Hr. Dan Carl, representing =he Cabarrus CooperaC£ve Christian Minis=ry, and Hr. <br />Crag Stew&tO, representing the low income community. In add~Clon, she reported <br />=ha= =he Homeless Task Force had recommended =ha= =he Board of Commissioners <br />appoint herself as =he Board's representative =o the SRCSC Board of Directors. <br /> <br /> Hr. Vernon Cahoon, member of =he Homeless Task Force, reported =ha= =he <br />fundin~ is a one-year grant and requires no commitment for ma=chinS funds from <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, =he Board appointed Ms. Carolyn Carpenter as =he Board's <br />representative =o =he Salisbury-Rowan Community Service Council, Inc. Board of <br />Dire=core for a term of one year ending April 30, 1996. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Olio-Mille asked Ms. Carpenter if she would be willing =o <br />assist with a paint recycling pro]ecu for Cabarrus County. She ~ndica=ed her <br />willingness =o share =he information she had obtained from Florida regarding a <br />paint/hou~ehold goods recycling pro]e==. Comm~ssioner Casper advised =ha= a <br />local cask force had been se= up =o address the issue and would be contac=ins Ha. <br />Carpenter for aes~e=an~s. <br /> <br /> He. Carpenter alee presented a packet of information relative =o flex <br />schools =o =he Board members for =heir review. <br /> <br /> <br />
