VOTING PROCEDUR.ES <br /> <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners <br />Voting Procedures <br />Legislative Goals Conference <br />January 11-12, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 1 of !_ <br /> <br />1. Voting <br /> <br />Each member county represented is entitled to cast one vote on goals presented at the Conference. A- <br />county's vote may be cast by any propedy designated county official (voting delegate or alternate) in <br />attendance at the meeting, <br /> <br />2. Legislative goals <br /> <br />1. Legislative goals recommended by the Board of Directors shall be adopted upon receipt of a <br /> majority of votes cast; and may be amended by a majority of votes cast. <br /> <br />Legislative goals not recommended by or not submitted to the Board of Directors must be <br />presented to the presiding officer or to either co-chair of the Legislative goals committee by 1:00 <br />p.m. on the first day of the Legislative goals conference. The general subject matter of these <br />goals will be announced at the conclusion of the first day of the conference. <br /> <br />Goals submitted in accordance with paragraph (2) above shall be reviewed by the goals <br />Screening Committee composed of the chairs of the six steering committees and the co-chairs of <br />the Legislative Goals committee. The Screening Committee shall be chaired by the President. <br />The Screening Committee shall recommend approval or disapproval of each goal submitted in <br />accordance with paragraph (2) above. <br /> <br />Legislative goals submitted in accordance with paragraph (2) above and reviewed and <br />recommended for approval by the Screening Committee in accordance with paragraph (3) above <br />shall be adopted upon receipt of a majority of votes cast; and may be amended by a majority of <br />votes cast. Goals submitted pursuant to paragraph (2) and recommended for disapproval by the- <br />Screening Committee shall be eligible for consideration upon a vote of two-thirds of the number <br />of delegates officially registered as of 3:00 p.m. on the first day of the conference. Any goal vote, <br />eligible shall be adopted upon receipt of a majority of votes cast. <br /> <br /> <br />
