1. Child care to meet the developmental needs of children whose <br /> emotional, cognitive, social or physical development is delayed or at <br /> risk of delay. <br />2. Child care to support child welfare services for families who need <br /> child day care assistance to prevent or remedy problems that may <br /> result in the neglect or abuse of children, to prevent foster care <br /> placement, to support family reunification, and to help families in <br /> crisis. <br />Child care for clients who are being assessed for substance abuse. <br /> <br />Cabarms County will work with churches in the community to provide child <br />care for individual families. <br /> <br />b. Transportation: <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County will use a variety of methods to meet <br /> transportation needs ofpaxticipants in Work First, specifically <br /> transportation for employment, community services, job related activities, <br /> and 1st Stop. These methods are as follows: <br />1. Mileage Reimbursements: We will reimburse mileage when a client is <br /> driving their own vehicle for 3 months of employment. <br />2. Provide transportation through taxis: We will provide taxi <br /> transportation for clients for the 1 ~t month of employment only. <br />3. Transportation Routes and pick-ups: It is planned that we will provide <br /> transportation through county cars or leased vans, in order to transport <br /> clients to work or work sites. These will be driven by employed Work <br /> First participants and will have designated pick-up sites, similar to a <br /> bus stop. <br />4. Purchase of Automobiles: In a limited number of instances, we hope to <br /> use participation expense and EA money to assist some employed <br /> clients in making down payments on automobiles for work, paying for <br /> tag and title, or insurance for six months. <br />5. Additional NC Department of Transportation funds which can be used <br /> in a variety of ways, including: <br /> a. Operating expenses for transportation, including driver wages, fuel, <br /> insurance, or vehicle maintenance. <br /> b. Transportation through fixed route, demand/response, vanpool, <br /> carpool, volunteer reimbursement, or other services. <br /> c. Meeting transportation needs of Work First participants following <br /> temfination from cash assistance. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
