January 8, 1998 <br /> <br />ICASARRUSCOU I <br /> <br />NBRTH CAROklN~ <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />RE: Expansion of State Leased Property at Frank Liske Park <br /> <br />Per the attached information, the State has agreed to allow the County to lease an additional 50 acres <br />of State owned land at Stonewall Jackson School for recreational purposes. <br /> <br />It is requested that you authorize staffto initiate the required documents and approve the County's <br />participation in the lease agreement. We will pursue the legal processes and work on site <br />development plans for your review and later approval. <br /> <br />This action consummates considerable effort over the past year by numerous persons and agencies. <br />State officials, County staff, City of Concord staff, the Cabarrus Soccer Association working with <br />Representative Richard Moore and Senator Hartsell have had extended participation in reaching this <br />end. <br /> <br />Action requested includes: <br /> <br />(1) Approval to proceed with lease documents. <br /> <br />(2) Authorization to initiate project planning efforts. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />An extension of gratitude by the County to all those involved in the process, especially <br />Representative Moore and Senator Hartsell. <br /> <br />Respectfully, <br /> <br />FWC/sb <br /> <br /> Office of the County Manager <br />P.
