Little, Director <br />Cabarms County Parks, Recreation and Property Maintenance Department <br /> <br />Subject: Dump Truck Bids <br /> <br /> This letter is in reference to the dump track bids for the Cabarrus County Property <br />Maintenance Department. Five bids were received for the bid opening on August 12, 1996. The <br />low bidder was Hilbish Motor Company of Kannapolis in the amount of $42,068.00. All the <br />truck bidders recommended for Cabarrus County to add a lift axle to the proposed truck. A lift <br />axle will allow for the track to haul heavy loads of gravel, dirt, and rock without damaging the <br />truck or overweighing the truck to NC DOT standards. This lift axle will also allow Cabarrus <br />County to haul an extra 10,000 to 12,000 pounds on each load. The following is a outline of the <br />projected costs: <br /> Base Bid $42,068.00 <br /> Lift Axle/Tires 4,940.00 <br /> Road Use Tax 1.410.24 <br /> <br />Total Bid Amount $48,418.24 <br /> <br /> In the 1996-97 Budget, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners approved <br />$44,808.00 for this truck. Also in the budget, the Board of Commissioners approved top-dresser <br />equipment in the amount of $5,280.00. I would recommend to purchase the dump track from <br />Hilbish Motor Company in the amount of $48,418.24 and to seek to purchase a used top dresser <br />with the remaining funds ($1,669.76). <br /> <br />Thank you for your consideration concerning this proposed equipment purchase. <br /> <br /> <br />
