I

Mr. B~]ly Hamb¥, November ~8, ~991, pa~e 2.

We discussed at that meeting the importance of the buildings
to the downtown Concord district, and the possibility of having
the buildings nominated to the National Register, or perhaps the
creation of a small National Register historic district downtown
which would include those buildings. If the buildings were
listed on the National Register, they could be eligible for
Federal rehabilitation tax credits. I have enclosed some
information about the National Register; for more information
about having the buildings listed in the register, please contact
Claudia Brown at (919) 733-6545. For more information about the
rehabilitation tax credits please contact Tim Simmons, tax act
coordinator and consulting architect at (919) 733-6547. Tim and
I are available to meet with you and walk through the buildings
if you would like.

We at the State Historic Preservation Office are very much
concerned about the future of these buildings, and would like to
work with the county in preserving them. Please let me know if
we can be of assistance %0 you, and do not hesitate to call on
us. I can be reached at (919) 733-6§47.

Sincerely,

Paul E.
