1792
Department of Human Services
Work First Emergency Assistance Quarterly Report
January 2024 — March 2024
The Work First Emergency Assistance (EA) program is designed to assist families' sporadic
emergency needs. We continue to experience a high volume of application denials mainly due to
client's not meeting the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) requirements
such as not having a minor child in the home, not meeting income guidelines, failing to provide
requested information, not having a documented crisis, or not being able to maintain ongoing
expenses. The program application and requirements can be found on the Cabarrus County
Website at https://forrns.cabarruscounty.us/Forms/wfea.
Just recently, with the help of our Information Technology Department, we were able to launch an
external dashboard https://www.cabarruscounty.us/Government/Departments/Human-
Services/Economic-Family-Support-Services/Crisis-Financial-Assistance. It is located on the
right-hand side under "Related Links."
Apply+ Now for Emergency A4ssistance
Emergency Assistance Dashboard
The dashboard features program statistics, assistance trend analysis, and trending reasons for
denials.
Lora Lipe
EFSS Program Administrator
1303 South Cannon Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC 28083
Phone: 704.920.1400
Fax: 704.920.1401
Website: www.cabarruscounty.us Page 151
