William died 28 June 1912 age 77 after he succumbed to a long illness and a second stroke. His funeral was at Central <br />Methodist Church in Concord. He is buried in the Montgomery family plot in Oakwood Cemetery Sect.. D-16. Also buried in <br />the family plot Sect. D-16 are two brother who also served as Confederate soldiers. Pvt. Charles Gaines Montgomery who had <br />served in Barbiere's Cavalry Battalion, Goldsby's Mounted Infantry an Alabama military unit and Capt. George Wilcox <br />Montgomery Co F "Trojan Regulators", 44th NC Infantry Regiment. He had two other brothers that had died in the war. <br />Cabarrus County Register of Deeds: <br />Joseph Young held this office from 1872 to 1878. <br />Joseph Campbell Young, born 14 August 1820, Cabarrus County. Enlisted 19 April 1861 in Co A "Cabarrus Guards", 20th NC <br />Infantry Regiment and rose to the rank of 2nd Lt. Married Rosanna N. Martin in January 1847, Cabarrus County. They had two <br />sons, Robert L. and John Martin Young. His occupations were farmer, surveyor, deputy sheriff, Cabarrus County Register of <br />Deeds, and civil engineer. Joseph "John" died 6 March 1892. Both he and his wife Rosanna are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, <br />Sect. D-17. <br />Clerk of Superior Court: <br />James C. Gibson held this office from 1872 to 1878. Born in Concord 2 November 1840 to Dr. Edmund R. and Elizabeth Phifer <br />Gibson. Pvt. James C. Gibson served in Co A "Cabarrus Guards", 20th NC Infantry. Enlisted 1 May 1861 Concord. On 14 <br />September 1862 he and many other members of the "Cabarrus Guards" were captured at Fox's Gap, Maryland, sent to Ft. <br />McHenry, Maryland, transferred to Ft. Monroe, Virginia where he was paroled and exchanged on 3 October 1862. He returned <br />to service in Co A and was wounded later in October 1862 at South Mountain, Virginia. Sent to the Chimburazo Hospital No. 4 <br />in Richmond. The 201h NC was also at Gettysburg where his brother Lt. William Henry Gibson, Co A, 33rd NC Infantry who was <br />killed in the Pettigrew —Trimble Charge, aka Pickett's Charge, against Cemetery Ridge, Gettysburg on 3 July 1863. He is buried <br />in the Confederate Section of the Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA. On 9 April 1865, James was with the "Cabarrus Guards" <br />at Appomattox, Virginia when Robert E. Lee surrendered. After the war James married Elizabeth Puryear of Yadkin County. In <br />addition to being the Clerk of Superior Court of Cabarrus County he also farmed. After leaving office in 1878 he acquired his <br />Law license and practiced law and was involved in banking. They had two children, Richard Puryear Gibson and Ellen Gibson <br />Macrae. James died on 10 November 1900 and he and his family are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Sect. D-49. <br />Cabarrus County Treasurer: <br />Josiah Stanhope Fisher was the Cabarrus County Treasurer who administered the $30,000 cost of building the new courthouse <br />and jail. Josiah was born 14 April 1836 in Concord to Daniel and Leah Faggart Fisher. His father Daniel is buried in the Holy <br />Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant and his mother Leah Faggart Fisher is buried in the Old Lutheran Cemetery in <br />Concord. Josiah is the grandson of Jacob Faggart Jr. and Margaret Barbara Bost Faggart. He is the great grandson of Jacob <br />Fegert "Faggart" who came from Germany "Prussia" and who was one of the three founders of St. John's Lutheran Church and <br />also a Revolutionary War Patriot. He is the great grandson of Pvt. Paul Elias Bost a Revolutionary War soldier. Josiah is great <br />great grandson of Johannes Wilhelm Bost from Germany "Prussia" who was the first Bost to come to Mecklenburg / Cabarrus <br />County. Johannes is buried at St. John's Lutheran. During the war Josiah served as a Sergeant in Co G, 2°d NC Junior Reserves <br />CSA a Home Guard company. Josiah would later marry Laura Plunkett and they would have four children, two of whom died at <br />a very early age. Josiah had eleven brothers and sisters.
