2023 <br />DHS <br />Numbers <br />• Investigations worked with 4,970 children an <br />increase from 4,717 in 2022, and 4470 children from <br />2021. <br />• For Cabarrus County, we accepted 1694 cases down <br />from 1721 cases in 2022. Of those accepted cases, <br />459 were investigative cases and 1,235 were family <br />assessments. Investigative cases involve human <br />trafficking, physical, sexual and emotional abuse. <br />• Out of the total amount of cases accepted 147 of <br />them had substance abuse allegations and out of <br />those 15 cases alleged opiate use. <br />• Cabarrus County has completed 463 assist requests <br />from other counties down from 554 in 2022. <br />• We also had 14 substance abuse impacted infants, <br />148 domestic violence cases, and 13 human <br />trafficking cases. <br />Page 46 <br />
