• Imitative traffic si ns No sign shall be illuminated, constructed, or displayed in any manner which simulates official traffic or public notice signs or signals. • Restrictions on direct illumination, banners, streamers, etc. No source of illumination on a sign, such as floodlights, spotlights, unshielded bulbs, etc., shall be directly visible from any public right -of -way, from any residential district or from adjacent premises. • Prohibited locations for si ns Except where specifically permitted by this Ordinance, signage, inclusive of the supports, frames and embellishments thereto, shall not be located within the public right -of -way, or sight preservation triangle as defined in this Ordinance. No sign shall be attached, affixed or painted upon any utility poles, any tree, rock or other neutral object. No sign shall be permitted on the side street frontage of a corner lot, if such sign is located within one hundred (100) feet of a residential district. • Maintenance of si ns All signage in Cabarrus County is to be kept in good, presentable condition. Paint is to be intact, neither peeling nor faded. Signs are also to be kept structurally sound capable of standing erect or remaining securely attached. • Permit required It is unlawful for any person to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, or relocate a sign within Cabarrus County thereon without having first obtained a permit from the Zoning Administrator. • Inspection Every sign erected in Cabarrus County shall be subject to the inspection of the Zoning Administrator/ Inspector to assure compliance with the provisions of this Ordinance. Signage with electrical wiring is to be inspected and approved prior to connection to the power source. • Illegal signs Any sign erected in violation of the provisions of this Ordinance is an illegal sign and shall be removed. • Failure to comply Attachment number 1 \n G -4 Page 252
