• 30 active guardianship cases as of September, 2013 <br />• 13 active Title V participants as of September, 2013 <br />• 52 active Work First cases as of September, 2013 <br />• 0 unclaimed bodies processed for the quarter <br />• 165 total active cases with Community Alternatives Program (CAP) <br />Critical Trends: <br />• The new Medicaid billing system has been implemented, NC Tracks. There have been <br />several administrative issues with billing for providers since the implementation. Issues <br />continue with the system and the department is seeking reimbursement for several <br />services offered through Medicaid. <br />• The Department has entered in to a contract with ARC of North Carolina to assume a <br />few guardianship cases using state allocated funds. The Department continues to be the <br />sole public guardian source for the county. The ARC was able to take some of our cases <br />at this time. <br />• Social Services Block Grant is subject to further cuts in January with the pending <br />sequester and additional cuts unless a budget deal is reached. In addition, the <br />department has learned of potential loss of this funding for the federal year of 2015. <br />The department will be monitoring the budget discussions regarding these issues for <br />planning purposes for the new budget. <br />The federal shutdown created a suspension in many of the federal grants that flow to the <br />department. The federal government has now resolved these issues and are currently about to <br />enter in to budget negotiations. The next deadline is January 15, 2014 as this is the date the <br />continuing resolution expires that funds the government. <br />9! <br />Attachment number 1 <br />1 -5 Page 230 <br />
