FOOD POLICY COUNCIL <br />This Council will identify and strengthen the connections between food, health, <br />natural resource protection, economic development and the agricultural <br />community. The Food Council will be charged with performing research, <br />educating the community, developing strategies and making policy <br />recommendations that will encourage the development of a robust, sustainable <br />local food economy and a healthier population. <br />HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />This advisory committee provides information about the needs of Cabarrus <br />County seniors to the Board of Commissioners and advises the Board of <br />Commissioners on matters relating to services, resources, funding and long - <br />range planning. The committee is comprised of appointed agency <br />representatives and individuals who will represent the needs of the senior <br />population. <br />HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD <br />This board is appointed by the Board of Commissioners to advocate, advise and <br />consult regarding services within the Department of Human Services. The board <br />is composed of five members who are appointed for three -year terms. <br />In the first year of organization, the terms will be staggered with three members <br />appointed to three -year terms and two members appointed to two -year terms. <br />INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES AND POLLUTION CONTROL FINANCING AUTHORITY <br />This authority provides for the issuance of revenue bonds to aid in financing (1) <br />industrial and manufacturing facilities which provide job opportunities or better <br />ways to help alleviate unemployment and raise below- average manufacturing <br />wages and (2) pollution control facilities for industries. The 7- member authority <br />meets as needed. Appointments are for terms of six years. <br />JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION COUNCIL <br />The council plans for the needs of adjudicated and at -risk youth and assesses <br />the need for delinquency treatment and prevention services in Cabarrus County. <br />The 25- member council is made up of a variety of judicial and public agency <br />representatives as well as seven at -large members. Appointments are for terms <br />of two years. <br />NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />This committee seeks to maintain the intent of the Nursing Home Residents Bill <br />of Rights for those persons residing in nursing homes, works to ensure <br />appropriate conditions within the nursing homes and promotes community <br />involvement with those homes. Members cannot be employed by a nursing <br />home nor have any financial interest, directly or indirectly, in a nursing home. <br />Also, no immediate family of a nursing home resident in Cabarrus County can <br />serve on the committee. Initial appointments are made for terms of one year with <br />successive appointments of three years. <br />Attachment number 1 <br />1 -10 Page 269 <br />
