APPENDIX B -MEETING MINUTES
Southeast Cabarrus Park Meeting Minutes ~DICKSON
eommunHy Intraztrueture consultants
DATE: August 19, 2009
ATTENDEES: LONDA STRONG, JONATHAN MARSHALL, DAVID HAMPTON, KYLE BILAFER, KEVIN GRANT,
RICHARD STANCIL, JAMES CARRIKER, CHRIS FU RR, DENNIS TESTERMAN, RANDY DANIELS, KATHY KITTS,
AIMEE HAWKINS, ROB WALLACE, PERRY GABRIEL, HEATHER JOHANNES, MIKE DOWNS, RHONDA
HARRISON, TIM LOW DER, BILLY ROYAL, JOEL MOULIN
The purpose of the meeting was to allow the steering committee to develop ideas on which
amenities would be best suited for the park based on the previous committee input and to also
establish the best location within the park boundary for the chosen amenities.
• Key amenities were discussed based on a list compiled and noted on the meeting minutes
dated August 12, 2009. The main amenities focused on for this meeting were:
o Amphitheatre
o Cabins/tent sites
~ Boardwalklfishing piers for the lake
c~ Mountain bika~hiking trails
• Additional amenities that did not receive a large amount of votes at the last meeting but
will be incorporated into the park such as playgrounds, volleyball, shelters, horseshoe pits,
etc. will be added to the Master Plan but did not warrant a discussion.
• Three groups of 4-5 persons each were established and each group was tasked with placing
the amenities on the site in a manner in which they thought would function best.
• After each group established a layout, the ideas were presented and comments were made
about why each group chose the location and type of amenities based upon the site visit.
• A unanimous opinion was established indicating the desire for a large multi-purposefacility
to contain park offices, an educational center, a meeting or banquet room and an outdoor
patio area with an outdoor fireplace.
• Most layouts were very similar and W.K. Dickson will modify the existing Master Plan to
include the ideas established at the meeting. The revised layout will be located on the
project website.
X41 ~ ~DIGI<SON
Community in IfO3lrUOluf6 COf13U1tOn13
G-1 Page 262
