A <br />K... motion was made by Doug St$fford with a second by Dan Farrell to move $55,000 from the <br />unappropriated fund balance to the "marketing" line item to cover the balance of the expense for <br />CVBTV. Motion carried. <br /> <br />After discussion, a motion wa~ made by John Cox with a second by John Mills to transfer an additional. <br />$100,000 from the unappropri~ted fund balance to the "marketing" line item to be used for additional <br />*' marketing efforts to promote the 1-85 exit 49 area and the Concord Convention Center as a meeting <br />destination. Motion carried. <br />Management Report <br />The CVB staff presented the management report for the months of July-August. <br /> <br />Included were the following it~ms: <br /> <br />o Hotel occupancy and average daily rates continue to rise throughout the county. <br />o The staff has achieved the goals and objectives set forth for the 05-06 fiscal year and bonuses <br />will be distributed pertlie guidelines approved by the board. <br />o Libba Barrineau hosted tours for the FMCA convention held at Lowe's Motor Speedway and <br />other staff members worked at the welcome center set up at that location. She reported the <br />Cabarrus Arena and E~ents Center rented 80 RV spots for event. <br />o Judy Root is attending family Media Showcase in Fayetteville and will be hosting them in our <br />community at the end o~ this week. <br />o CVBTV will launch our pew website in September. <br />o Libba Barrineau presented new ad templates created by Elkins Group. <br />o Libba Barrineau and Ju'dy Root worked together to host a travel writer and her children from <br />Disney Family Fun to do an article on NASCAR. <br />o Scott Aldrich will be ho~ting a site visit for Special Olympics North Carolina for the event in <br />February, 2007. <br />o The CVB will submit a ~id for the NAIA College Basketball Championships. <br />o Scott Aldrich has recei~ed two proposals for a feasibility study regarding the needs for sports <br />facilities in Cabarrus C~unty. He will wait until he receives two others, the results of other studies <br />being done in the counly, and final decisions being made public on sports facilities proposed in <br />the county before makirg a recommendation to the board. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br /> <br />The grant committee present,d the following grants and recommendations: <br />I <br />Mid-Atlantic Farm Show - $1 ~,OOO per grant guidelines. After discussion, a motion to approve was <br />made by Doug Stafford with ~ second by Carolyn Carpenter. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />Frank Lapsley reported the $earch Committee has requested the interviews with the finalists for the <br />position of President/CEO f9r the CVB to be held on September 18 and 19th at a location to be <br />determined. ~ <br />, <br />, <br />John Mills presented a propo~. ed greenway project for the 1-85, Exit 49 area to the board for review.
