Please make sure that your county has submitted proposed legislative goals for inclusion into the county legislative goals development process by Friday, Sept 29. The process, which occurs every two years, will continue through the fall and winter and culminate with the Legislative Goals Conference, which will be held Jan. 11-12, 2007, in Pinehurst (Moore County). At the conference, NCACC membership will approve a legislative agenda to be presented to the General Assembly. Throughout the fall, Association steering committees made up of county commissioners from across the state will review proposed goals and forward recommendations to the Legislative Goals Committee. steerjng~ommiUee!i will begin with a review of goals adopted for 2005-06, but goals will not be carried forward automatically. To sign up for one of these policy committees, please contact the staff liaison for that committee listed on the link above. The Legislative Goals Committee, which will be appointed by newly elected NCACC President Terry Garrison of Vance County, will hold a series of meetings in late fall to review goals recommended by the steering committees. The Legislative Goals Committee will then forward a group of proposais to the NCACC Board of Directors in December. The board will then approve a package to be presented to the membership at the Legislative Goals Conference.
