Please make sure that your <br />county has submitted proposed legislative goals for inclusion into the county legislative goals development <br />process by Friday, Sept 29. <br /> <br />The process, which occurs every two years, will continue through the fall and winter and culminate with the <br />Legislative Goals Conference, which will be held Jan. 11-12, 2007, in Pinehurst (Moore County). At the <br />conference, NCACC membership will approve a legislative agenda to be presented to the General Assembly. <br /> <br />Throughout the fall, Association steering committees made up of county commissioners from across the state will <br />review proposed goals and forward recommendations to the Legislative Goals Committee. steerjng~ommiUee!i <br />will begin with a review of goals adopted for 2005-06, but goals will not be carried forward automatically. To sign <br />up for one of these policy committees, please contact the staff liaison for that committee listed on the link above. <br /> <br />The Legislative Goals Committee, which will be appointed by newly elected NCACC President Terry Garrison of <br />Vance County, will hold a series of meetings in late fall to review goals recommended by the steering committees. <br />The Legislative Goals Committee will then forward a group of proposais to the NCACC Board of Directors in <br />December. The board will then approve a package to be presented to the membership at the Legislative Goals <br />Conference. <br /> <br />County officials are urged to consider legislative proposais and forward them to the NCACC at P.O.
