The Research Campus project has made the <br />search for land difficult due to tracts being purchased by developers and high land <br />costs. We were fortunate to find property that is adjacent to Kannapolis Middle School. <br />The property owner, Rick Rogers, is willing to sell the school system 29.928 acres. The <br />grade level configuration for the future school has not been determined, but will <br />probably be an elementary, intermediate, or a middle school. The selling price for the <br />land is $90,000 an acre, which is consistent with our research of land prices in <br />Kannapolis. The Board of Education is asking for $40,000 to place an option on this <br />land and perform soil tests and environmental studies.
