March 13, 2000 [CABARRUS COU~J NORIN CAROLINA MEMORANDUM TO: Board of Commissioners FROM: Susie Bonds RE: Appointments to the Centralina Development Corporation Attached is a request from Paul Herringshaw, Executive Director of the Centralina Development Corporation (CDC), for appointments to the CDC Board of Directors effective July 1, 2000. This item will be listed on the April agenda for your consideration. The terms of appointment for Commissioner Carpenter, Branson Jones and Eddie Durham end on June 30. Please note that the County makes three appointments to CDC; however, only two appointees actually serve on the CDC Board of Directors. Mr. Jones was appointed in 1994 and is completing his sixth consecutive year of appointment. He previously served on the CDC Board from 1986 to 1991. To consider Mr. Jones for reappointment at this time, the Board would need to make an exception to the Appointment Policy. Mr. Durham was appointed in 1993 and is completing his seventh consecutive year of service. (Note: The Board made an exception to the Appointment Policy on May 27, 1999 and reappointed Mr. Durham to his seventh year.) He previously served on the CDC from 1985 to 1992. The Board declined to reappoint him in 1992 since he had served six years at that time. He remained off the CDC for one year, was again appointed to the CDC in 1993 and has served continuously since that time. To consider Mr. Durham for reappointment, the Board would again need to make an exception to the Appointment Policy. No contact has been made with Mr. Jones or Mr. Durham regarding their interest in continuing to serve on the CDC Board. If you have questions or need additional information, please let me know.
