Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes <br />December 18, 1997 <br /> <br />Page 21 <br /> <br />asking the Board to look at this in the broader scope professionally <br />from the land use planning and also from a personal perspective of <br />protecting his own property, fights. <br /> <br />Mr. Leo Berube, Property Owner Bzcch Bluff, addressed the Board <br />stating the inappropriateness in his view of mixing general <br />industrial uses with residential uses is a very basic chief concern <br />that he thinks we are all looking at this evening. He said there will <br />be a very large increase in traffic, and the infrastructure problems <br />that families will face. He said there are several alternatives that <br />were discussed that might include first, rejecting the proposal <br />entirely and revisiting again the Western Area Plan. He said that <br />plan was put in place for a reason and he would like to see the <br />Board go back and review that. Second, reducing the scale on <br />location of the proposal to directly across from the airport, and <br />third, increasing the buffering. Mr. Berube said in closing he <br />would like to see the industrial length in traffic moved more <br />toward the western side where it is a more appropriately <br />designated idea. <br /> <br />Mr. Bill Galloway, Property Owner, B~-'ech Bluff, addressed the <br />Board stating that his view is the purpose of government is to <br />promote health, safety, welfare, and domestic tranquillity. He said <br />for the purpose of maintaining continuity is to maintain the same <br />zoning standards. <br /> <br />Ms. Michelle Masud, Property Owner l~c-zch Bluff, addressed the <br />Board stating her concern is the traffic and wetlands. She asked <br />the Board to take a good look at this rezoning. <br /> <br />Ms. Sandra Nichols, Property Owner Bccch Bluff, addressed the <br />Board reading a paragraph from a Memorandum from the North <br />Carolina Depathaient of Cultural Resources, Office of State <br />Archeology. The paragraph read " There has been no <br />archeological survey conducted in the vicinity which is in question. <br />However, there have b...~cn surveys conducted nearby. There are <br />numerous archeological sites which have been identified. Six sites <br />have l~e.n recorded within one mile of the general location <br />specified and additional sites are likely to exist within this area. <br /> <br /> <br />
