Ma. ,lCelry S~j'ord Cabarrus Counry Dept of Commerce July 15, 2008
Cabarrus Counry Detantlon Center Hawing, Concerti, Noah Carolina 7Ylgon~Ktrinfelder Proposal No. OS3-08-047•P
SCOPE OF SETtVICES
Trigon proposes to provide a quality assurance project team to perform the special inspections and
testing as required by the project specifications and Statement of Special Inspections. This team will
include NICET (National Institute for Certification Engineering Technologies) and ACI (American
Concrete Institute) certified field technicians, ICC (International Code Councin certified special
inspectors, and certified welding and bolting inspectors.
Prior to providing testing services, we will attend a meeting with the owner, architectlengineer, and
general contractor. The purpose of this meeting will be to delineate the actual testing services to be
provided and the scheduling of services. Our fees are highly dependant upon the work schedule with
respect to the testing frequencies outlined in the project specifications. It is strongly suggested that this
meeting be held in order to control costs and delineate responsibilities.
The scope listed below summarizes services to be performed by Trigon acting as Cabarrus County's
Independent Testing and Special Inspection Agency in accordance with the project plans, specifications,
and Statement of Special inspections.
1. Site Development
Based on our understanding of the project, we estimate a total of 25 working days for overall site
development. Based on our review of the project documents and our experience with similar projects,
we anticipate our services will consist of proofrolling, observations and quantification of undercut (if
required), laboratory testing of proposed fill materials, and field density testing of fili soils and base
course materials used to raise grade or backfill utilities excavations.
2. Shallow Foundations
Based on our understanding of the project, we estimate a total of 63 working days will be required to
complete evaluation of beating grades. Our personnel will be present on-site to observe and evaluate the
suitability of bearing grades for the shallow foundations in accordance to the project specifications prior
to the placement of concrete.
3. Cast-In-Place Concrete
During concreting of the shallow foundations, slabs-on-grade, and elevated slabs, our personnel will
observe steel reinforcement and sample the project concrete per the project specifications. Compressive
strength tests of the concrete will be performed in accordance with the project specifications and reported
to the project team within 24 hours of testing. Based on our understanding of the.project, we estimate a
total of 99 working days will be required to complete reinforcing steel observations and concrete testing.
Li addition, we anticipate making 100 sets of 5 concrete samples for compressive strength testing.
4. Structural Masonry
During masonry wall construction, our personnel will observe troinforoing steel, mortar joints, cleanliness
of the cells, along with the grout placement. Compressive strength tests of the mortar and grout will be
performed in accordance with the project specifications and reported to the project team within 24 hours
of testing. Based on our understanding of the project, we estimate that a total of 224 site visits will be
TRICONbTlGIN6&AING CONSULT.INTS, INC. Pagr 1
