the social workers must address these immediately. Job Readiness classes
will be continuously provided, with certificates of satisfactory completion
given to the clients, which can be shown to potential employers. We will
maximize the work experience of those clients needing this service, by
enrolling them in Community Work Experience and Grant Diversion
placements. Once completing this class, they will be put back into the job
search, or else referred to a more intensive assistance program, such as
VR or Mental Health.
b. Activities and Support Services Provided: As in the first goal, the
Curtis Class for job readiness will be mandatory. In addition, when there
is no job experience, and the chent displays poor work habits, the Work
Experience program can be utilized. This can give them job experience
for a resume, as well as allow them to gain good work habits, w/trout the
fear of getting fired, and without the agency having to jeopardize good
relations with employers. Finally, transportation, child care, and
participation expenses will be available.
c. Who Will Manage the Activities and Support Services: DSS
Employment, IM, and day care staff, as well as ESC, VR, and Mental
Health staff will provide the support services and activities to put these
adults to work.
d. Where Will They Take Place: Most of these activities will take place at
DSS, with other agencies providing space for some supportive services.
e. How We Will Measure Outcomes for This Goal: This can be measured
through the EPIS tracking report JBREP6, which give monthly statistics
for Employment Services, including full and part-t/me employment. It can
be tracked internally through the Employment Un/ts own database for
showing employment.

Staying Off Welfare After Going to Work:
How Will This Goal Be Met: Cabarrus County is investigating a number
of ways to ensure that clients remain off welfare once they are employed.
The reasonable course of action is to maintain good follow-up and support
to make sure that the client is stabilized in their job, before a crisis occurs
and they quit. This wood mean that Employment staffwould retain the
case for a specified period oft/me, after the client goes on Transitional
Medicaid, or else another trait at the agency, possibly the Crisis Unit,
would assume this responsibility. The continued WOW incentives, after
employment, will make it possible for clients to afford to stay offwelfare
and remain working. The support could include additional transportation,
