Bakers Creek Park and Greenway <br /> Bakers Creek Park is located at 1275 West A Street in <br />Kannapolis, and is uniquely funded by three governmental <br />agencies: Cabarrus and Rowan Counties, and the City of <br />Kannapolis. Consisting of 38 acres, the park is often used <br />for family reunions, company picnics, and church outings. <br /> <br />Facilities available: · 3 large lighted picnic shelters (each 30' x 70') -- <br /> capacity of each 200 equipped with water, char- <br /> coal grills, horseshoe pits, and Ping-Pong tables <br /> · Individual picnic sites throughout the park <br /> · Outdoor basketball court <br /> · Remodeled play area <br /> · 18-hole miniature golf course <br /> · Concession Stand <br /> · Baseball/softball field <br /> · 4-court lighted tennis complex <br /> · Primitive camping area-- capacity 25 tents <br /> · Paved greenway linking Bakers Creek Park to Vil- <br /> lage Park <br /> · 2 Science and Nature trails <br /> <br /> Special events hosted by Bakers Creek Park include an <br />Easter Egg Hunt (the Saturday prior to Easter) and a Labor <br />Day Celebration (the last Saturday in August). <br /> <br /> In Philadelphia, after police helped neighbors clean <br />up vacant lots and plant gardens, burglary and theft in that <br />neighborhood dropped by 90%. <br /> (Healing America's Cities, 1994) <br /> <br /> <br />
