Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes
July 17, 1997

Page 8

covered. She said she is requesting that there not be anymore
additional single wide trailers in the area for their protection.

Ms. Betsy Bowen, Resident, addressed the Board stating she lives
in Autumn Acres. She said what no one has mentioned tonight is
that Autumn Acres is a restricted housing development. She said
since the trailers have moved in, the value of her home has gone
down.

Mr. Larry Bentley, Resident, addressed the Board stating his
concern is the trailers, and he hopes the Board approve this
rezoning.

Ms. Kathy Brantley, Resident, addressed the Board stating she is in
favor of the rezoning. She said this whole thing started because
they felt like there was a lack of adequate controls for single wide
mobiles and single wide mobile home developments. Ms. Branton
said their main concerns were that their property value was going
down. They were also concerned about the physical appearance of
the homes, and in fairness to the Mesimer's they do look somewhat
better than what they did. She said she would have to question
will it continue after this Board has made a decision and it goes on
to the County Commissioners. Ms. Branton said they also have an
increased concern for safety.

Mr. Keith Wayne, Resident, addressed the Board stating he
operates a business with his brother, and as he understands this
will become a nonconforming business. He said they support this
rezoning. He said he agree that agriculture should be exempt from
this zoning change. Mr. Wayne said the zoning change is the only
way of controlling the quality of growth.

The Chair closed the Public Hearing on Petition 97-12.

The Chair stated to the Board that they need to separate from their
consideration the personalities of the people involved and just
think about what this is going to do to the community. He also
asked the Board to think about whether this is the proper thing to
do for the community.
